Our service providers are only permitted to use your information for the purpose of providing services to us, and we take reasonable steps to ensure they protect it. We do not routinely disclose personal information overseas. If any of our service providers store data overseas (for example, cloud hosting), we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5. Credit applications and credit-related information
Where you (or a company of which you are a director, partner or proprietor) apply for a trade credit account with RGL, or give a guarantee and indemnity in support of an application, we collect and handle credit-related information in accordance with Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.

What we collect. Identification details (including date of birth, residential address and driver licence number), details from your application, information from your nominated trade referees, credit reports and creditworthiness information obtained from credit reporting bodies and other credit providers, repayment and default history on your account with us, and publicly available information such as court judgments and insolvency records.

Why we collect it. To assess your credit application and any guarantee, verify your identity, set and review credit limits, administer and monitor your account, exchange information with trade referees and other credit providers regarding your credit standing, recover overdue payments, register security interests, and meet our legal obligations.

Credit reporting bodies. We may obtain consumer or commercial credit reports about applicants, directors and guarantors from credit reporting bodies such as CreditorWatch (creditorwatch.com.au), Equifax (equifax.com.au) and illion (illion.com.au). We may also disclose information about your account — including payment defaults, where permitted by law — to those bodies. Each credit reporting body has its own policy about how it manages credit information, available on its website.

Your rights. You may request access to, and correction of, the credit information we hold about you (see section 9). You may also contact a credit reporting body directly to: obtain your credit report; request that your information not be used for direct-marketing pre-screening; or request a ban on your information being used or disclosed if you reasonably believe you have been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud (including identity fraud). If you do not provide the information requested in a credit application, we may be unable to assess the application or grant a credit account, and supply may remain on a cash or pre-payment basis.

6. How we store and protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes secure systems, access controls, and limiting access to staff who need it to do their job. Signed credit applications and guarantees are stored securely. We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy — noting that credit and guarantee documents may need to be retained for the life of the account and any applicable limitation periods — and then take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

7. Marketing and opting out
From time to time we may send you information about our products, offers or industry news by email, phone or post. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, or by contacting us using the details below. We will action opt-out requests promptly, and we do not send marketing in breach of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We do not use credit-related information for marketing.

8. Cookies and website analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to help it function properly, remember your preferences, and help us understand how visitors use the site (for example, through analytics services such as Google Analytics). This information is generally aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings; some parts of the website may not work fully if you do.

9. Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to the personal information (including credit-related information) we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. To do so, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time — and, for credit information, within the timeframes required by the Privacy Act. We may need to verify your identity before providing access. In limited circumstances permitted by law we may decline a request; if we do, we will tell you why and how you can complain about that decision.

10. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information — including a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles, Part IIIA of the Privacy Act or the Privacy (Credit Reporting)
Code — please contact us first using the details below. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and respond within a reasonable time (for credit-related complaints, within 30 days unless we agree otherwise). If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at
